Microsek - Summary
Electronics usage and embedded software is increasingly growing in the automotive and transport domains. This has created new opportunities in the business field and the industrial companies are requested to supply systems with a high technological level from the innovative and standards point of view.
The Osek/Vdx standard was created to facilitate subsystem integration and the usage of more electronic control units (ECU) distributed on the vehicle and developed by different suppliers.
From the point of view of the system designer, the main advantages- derived from software and communication standardization- are:
- The possibility to use different suppliers for each subsystem.
- To discourage the design and implementation of proprietary solutions and protocols.
- To increase competition between the subsystem suppliers.
- To drastically reduce the costs of production.
The MICROSEK product is a new European Hard Real-Time Operating System compatible with the Osek/Vdx automotive standard. The MICROSEK product will be certifiable against the international standard applied in the railway field (see CENELEC EN 50128); furthermore it is delivered with an integrated toolset suitable for the configuration and development of user applications: MICROSUITE
